And such

Busy November. A lot happening at work mostly. Personally, I was busy organizing a visit by the big boss to our region. The logistics were similar to that of a visit by any current head of state. I truly felt like I was finally in public relations. And publicity. And personal assisting. Actually, at this point, I probably could handle PR for a celebrity trolling third world villages for children to adopt. It was only 48 hours, but holay, was it stressful. People at work were scared to talk to me b/c I was so on edge.
And while that was happening, we were also helping out the city and a homeless agency staff extra shelter space during the cold snap. For three weeks. Because the city didn't figure out that with 100 people coming to the city each day, and a vacancy rate of less than 1%, there might be quite a few extra homeless (with jobs) trying not freeze to death at night. The entire city council should really be fired for their incompetence and corruption. They throw tons of land at developers, stop building transit, let landlords convert apartments to condos...and expect that everything is going to work out OK. Drives me nuts. So, they had to call in the calvalry and stretch everyone's resources because they failed to plan. Either that or they're morons.
Speaking of morons, one of my favourites, Stockwell Day, is back in the news today. No, not for his announcement that civilians will be looking at the RCMP a little closer from here on in. But for an article he supposedly wrote in the Penticton newspaper. Now, he made some jokes about global warming. Nothing more than anyone else would say about winter in Canada. Jokes along the lines of "Can't wait for that global warming to kick in so I don't have to shovel the walk." You know, tiny little jokes. The problem is, Day is a known nutcase. He can't make the same jokes that everyone else makes b/c with him, you don't know if he's joking or not. He could actually believe that climate change is actually a product of Al Gore's imagination, like the Internet. I'd hate to be Day's PR person.
Enough ranting for now.
December is bringing good things. A little less hectic work schedule. A slightly more hectic social schedule. And quite a few days off. We're going to Saskatoon for the holidays. Thanks to a good friend, we are housesitting while there, so we don't have to impose on anyone. We're going to be there for about 10 glorious, work-free (hopefully) days, seeing friends and family, eating to much and staying out too late.
So, wherever you are, whenever you read this, I hope you have a great holiday season filled with the same good friends, family, food and fun.

    Kai-sap! (Christmas!)

If only our leaders weren't so wrong-headed we could assume the mantle of Lords of the Earth that ... GodScientificProgressDestinyFate ... has decreed for us.

Well, once we get enough apartments built in Calgary.
